Inorganic Life ?

... can all those inorganic life forms from Star Trek series and countless computer games and movies be real?

Physicists Discover Inorganic Dust With Lifelike Qualities

Just a provocative sneak peek:
"These complex, self-organized plasma structures exhibit all the necessary properties to qualify them as candidates for inorganic living matter," says Tsytovich, "they are autonomous, they reproduce and they evolve."

ok..now I just want a Inorganic based pet...hmmm.. where did I put my old Chemistry set.... ;-)

another step towards e-paper?

Well it seems that reality is coming closer to sci-fi when it comes to flexible displays:

Cheap and flexible paper-thin displays on the way

Simpson's and String Theory...

...how thought that The Simpson's didn't contain any step for Absolute Knowledge was completely and utterly wrong!

It seems that the yellow people series has done some "major" contributes to linguistics, creating an english word that is being used by Theoretical Physicists

The word is referenced in the phrase:
"A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man".
and is rather self-explanatory ;-)

See more on: How a fake word from The Simpsons ended up in a perfectly cromulent string theory paper

The 2,718,281,828 steps for Absolute Knowledge...

... at least we know how many there are!

Some of you may have recognized it as the first 10 algarisms of e !
That transcendantal number has more than meets the eye....check it's fascinating history in The Number e

This post was inspired by a New Scientist article named e:the mystery number . (the full article is for subscriber only) The abstract gives a nice preview of its contents. and a web search can provide with more fundamental tidbits of information about the "magic properties" of e

Matrix time...

... can the human body be used as a battery?

At least some research is shedding some light to that ideia:

Nanogenerator Could Draw Energy from Human Blood

Personnaly I would like to have a power plug for a reading light ;-).... and maybe that could double as a weight loss diet: Burn fat to read at night!

What We Don't Know

I consider that the Second Step for Absolute Knowledge is the knowledge of what we don't know.

Wired Magazine did a nice job compiling some of the big questions:
Wired 15.02. What We Don't Know

My favorite one is:
Is the universe actually made of information?

Have fun trying to know what we don't know
